About Bagru Hand Block Print Sarees

Bagru printing is a centuries-old traditional craft practiced by the Chippa community in Rajasthan. This technique is famous for its use of natural vegetable dyes and unique wooden block patterns. At Bhavika Fashion, we bring you authentic Bagru sarees directly from the artisans, keeping this heritage craft alive.

Fabrics in this Collection

Our Bagru sarees are available in a variety of comfortable, premium fabrics:

  • Pure Cotton: Highly breathable and soft, ideal for India's warm climate and daily wear.
  • Linen Cotton: Offers the distinct crisp texture of linen combined with the soft comfort of cotton.
  • Kota Doriya: Lightweight and airy cotton-silk blend featuring the signature checkered weave.

The Bagru Printing Process

The craft involves preparing the fabric through washing, printing outline patterns using iron-rust and black dyes, and filling colors using natural ingredients like madder, indigo, and turmeric. Wooden blocks are carefully aligned by hand to create continuous floral, geometric, and ethnic designs, making every saree unique.

Care Instructions

To preserve the natural colors and delicate hand block prints, we recommend dry cleaning for the first wash. For subsequent washes, gently hand wash in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Do not soak, and dry in shade to prevent color fading.
